Bobby McDonagh

Bobby McDonagh, a former Irish diplomat, served as Ireland’s Permanent Representative to the EU (2005 to 2009), Ambassador to the UK (2009 to 2013), to Italy (2013 to 2017) and to Malaysia (2000-2001). He also worked on EU issues in Dublin for many years, including as EU Director General at the Department of Foreign Affairs. In addition to representing Ireland in the Council of Ministers for seven years, he worked in the cabinets of two Irish members of the European Commission and as an official of the European Parliament. He is now a public commentator and an Executive Coach. He has written extensiuvely about the European Union. His recent book The European Union in 12 Objects aims to explain the EU in an original and engaging way.
